HOW TO - A Complete User Guide
What you need:
All you need to transfer your DivX video to your PSP is:
AVS Video Tools
PSP mini-USB cable
a Sony Pro Duo Memory Stick (256MB - 1Gb) |
|
|
Download and install AVS Video Tools.
Click
here to download it. After the download is finished, run the AVSVideoTools.exe
file and follow the installation wizard instructions.

|
|
Run AVS Video Converter and select your input video file.
To select a video you would like to convert hit the Browse...
button next to Input File Name Field. In the opened Windows Explorer
Window browse for the necessary DivX file:

|
|
Set up the conversion parameters.
After you have selected the video input file, press To MP4
button on the main panel. In the list of Profiles (MP4
Profile Field) select one of the offered PSP profiles. You can
also click Edit Profile button to manually set the PSP profile
parameters.

For novice users it is recommended to select one of the default
PSP profiles.
If you would like to change the video file parameters you can
open the Profile Editor and input the following information:
-
Name:
PSP MP4 - Highest Available Quality (MPEG4, 29.97 fps, 368x208; MPEG4 AAC LC)
-
Description:
Video: MPEG4 - best quality, 29.97 fps, 368x208 x 144; Audio: MPEG4 AAC LC 128

-

Note: You will not be able to change the Frequency
parameter and it will always be 24,000 Hz for Sony PSP. The File Type
parameter must also be set to PSP so that your Sony PSP could read and
playback it properly.
|
|
Set up a proper video output file path.
Click the Browse... button next to Output
File Name field and select a location on your HDD for the output
video file.
NOTE! It is important that when you select a
location for your output video file, you should save the file to your HDD,
not to the Memory Stick directly.
As you know, PSP "understands" only specific file names and a
specific file structure. The file for a Sony PSP should be named like this:
MV4XXXXX.mp4, where XXXXX is a five (or four) digit number. In our case it
really does not matter as the video file will be automatically renamed prior to
sending it to the PSP.
|
|
Convert your DivX files.
After you have set up all the conversion parameters, hit the
Convert Now! button to start converting.

You can visually judge the DivX conversion process if you hit the
Advanced>> button twice.

The result of the conversion should be a video file with .mp4
extension that will be transferred to your PSP with the help of the AVS
Mobile Uploader application. It will be launched automatically
when the conversion process is over.
|
|
Transfer the converted video file to PSP.
Connect your PSP to your computer with the help of a mini-USB
cable. Turn on the PSP. Select USB connection in the Settings
menu.

The AVS Mobile Uploader application will be
launched to guide you through the upload process so that you could send your
converted video file to your Sony PSP with no difficulty.
If the Sony PSP is not displayed in the AVS Mobile Uploader
window you should press the Find Devices button to search for
your PSP:

After that click Next>>. You will see the
summary information for your PSP device and converted video file:

When you click the Upload button the upload
process itself will take place. It will take some time depending on the output
video file size.
Now you can enjoy your favorite DivX video on your
PSP!
